In this course, public open spaces (urban squares, streets, parks, trade spots, etc.) which are one of the most important spatial components in the cities will be explained in terms of location selection, physical form, social, economic and political functions in the historical process. In this context, everyday public spaces from ancient times will be examined in light of physical, social and economic parameters. This course aims to examine the effects of the post-1970 industrialization and economic restructuring in cities and especially in the central areas. The neoliberal economy and the changing new urban policies redefine urban space, while the users and functions of urban centers are redefined. It is aimed to analyze these projects in terms of environmental and social sustainability, local people participation, poverty and social inclusion and city right after analyzing the emerging real estate, culture, tourism, housing and office and design revitalization and urban renaissance rhetoric.

The aim of this course is to understand the importance of unobstructed design, to learn the legislation on barrier-free design and to get used to using barrier-free design principles in every project. Introduction to design concept for everyone; universal design; unobstructed design concepts; universal design and urban design; differences in users; barrier types; limitations for design and expectations from the designer; causes of problems, analysis and recommendation of solutions; unobstructed design standards in public spaces; the principles and legislations for legislation.

The aim of this course is to acquaint the students with basic knowledge of geographical information systems (GIS) and their basic components, knowledge and practical application skills about different geographical information systems applications related to urban and rural planning. The course is aimed at students who will use geographic information systems for the first time. During the Landscape Architecture undergraduate education, "Landscape Engineering" course is taught to undergraduate students. This course begins with an overview of developments in the field of environmental psychology. It introduces different models of human-environment interaction. In the first half of the semester, the focus is on issues such as social use of space, place theories, differences between architects and design understandings of those who can not be in this profession, and attitudes about nature in different cultures. In the second half, specific types of spaces such as houses, offices, schools, hospitals and gardens are examined for implementation. The aim of the course is to enable the student to correctly interpret and evaluate concepts related to planning in urban environment design applications through examples in practice. Definition of important terms and concepts encountered in urban environment design, types of plans in planning and explanation of approval process, examples given from practice; plan types, concepts and approval process according to planning and development legislation.

The aim of this course is to enable students to follow the debates in the social sciences in the light of Henri Lefebvre's concept of "right to the city". Starting from Lefebvre, the course aims to discuss how the city can be more friendly and inclusive in terms of these groups, by leaning over the experiences of disadvantaged groups such as children, young people and urban poor in social discrimination in the city, in the footsteps of researchers like Purcell, Mayer and Harvey.

This course will develop the capacity of the students to define, analyze and understand the complex nature of environmental problems at the local level. In this lesson, topics such as climate change sensitive planning, social durability are examined by examining the forms of urbanization in developed and developing countries as well as the social, physical / spatial problems that they have created from the 20th century to the present day. Strategies and sustainable urban planning and urban sustainability strategies of major international institutions and organizations, particularly the United Nations and the European Union, will be examined in this framework.

In the globalizing world, the need for planned urbanization is inevitable. Parallel to this, the importance of the real estate market is increasing steadily as the settlement areas are determined effectively. The importance of valuing can not be denied in making objective decisions about marketing, investment, financing and management matters especially about real estate. This derste real estate appraisal concept, principles and standards as well as techniques will be explained. In addition, applications related to residential and commercial real estate valuation will be reviewed.

  • PA 509 Environmental Policies and Local Governments  (3+0+0) 3, (AKTS: 6)

This course will develop the capacity of the students to define, analyze and understand the complex nature of environmental problems at the local level. Students will be able to identify, develop and adapt policy instruments for the resolution of environmental problems and diagnose the implementation of the most appropriate scenario. Students will have the capacity to designate social foci as strategic objectives and to define a qualified environmental understanding in the direction of social benefit. Students will learn the lifestyles, behaviors and values ​​necessary to achieve a positive social transformation. In addition, students will be able to evaluate the skills required for social action and their ability to reflect them critically with an interdisciplinary content. The course, causes and prevention policies of environmental problems, national and international environmental policy, sustainable development and environmental issues while examining the role of local governments in the development of environmental policies in Turkey and will be analyzed effect.
