This course includes the fundamental concepts and various dimensions of the field of architecture and provides knowledge about the intellectual and practical fields of the discipline for the starting freshman students. The course comprises a wide spectrum of topics related to discipline of architecture: architecture as a profession throughout the history; terms, concepts and approaches in the history of architecture; contemporary issues of architecture; space-human-context relationships; fundamentals of building systems, building design materials, structure and construction technologies; design thinking for architecture; the architectural design process and the studio culture; and professional ethics in the field of architecture.
